Sammy Faye - Tenor Sax
Why she began playing the saxophone:
Well, I originally started on the clarinet, in 4th grade. We had this little
assembly and I decided to become a band geek :-P. In sixth grade I started
the tenor saxophone and I loved it. I went from the "Enterprise Rising Stars",
which is elementary band, into the "Tiger" band. Then, in seventh grade, I
played in the advanced band and jazz band. That is where I fell in love with
Jazz.
What she is doing musically right now:
I am currently composing a piece for a smaller intermediate Jazz band that I
hope to have published by high school. I am the only tenor in one of Northern
California's best jazz ensembles, the Nuttin but Treble Jazz Group, and I love
it. I am also the 3rd chair clarinet for Parson's Junior High Advanced Band.
What she plans on doing in the future:
I will try out for Enterprise's Jazz Band and then I'll see what happens.
