Teen Jazz Hosting
By Shannon Kennedy
Name: Paul Bills
Instrument: Alto Saxophone
Years Playing: 4 years
Why he began playing the saxophone:
I started playing the saxophone because I've always loved the moods and
sounds associated with the instrument. I've always loved the saxophone and
the broad range of sounds and emotions it can communicate. It's simply a
great instrument and I've always wanted to play it.
What he is doing with his music right now:
I am surrently in a first chair in my school's jazz and concert bands. I
improvise with a quartet of kids every once in awhile, and I am studying
privately with Dale Lee. I also go downtown and play in the streets for fun.
What he plans on doing with his music in the future:
I plan on continuing to study the saxophone and other woodwinds for the rest
of my life. I hope someday to record with a band and perform for bigger and
bigger audiences. I really love the saxophone and hope that I can make a
living playing it.
