By Shannon Kennedy
Name: David Bodman
Instrument: Alto Saxophone
Years Playing: 9 years
Why he began playing the saxophone:
I would say back in 4th grade it was because no one else would, in light of the other easier to play instruments. I guess I grew to love the instrument and its place in the musical scheme of things. I love the variety in sounds any different saxophonist can make, it reminds me that as long as I work on it, my sound will have a place with the saxophone.
What he is doing musically right now:
After taking lessons for 6 years locally, I moved on to professional (collegiate) lessons my senior year in highschool. This put me on the development bandwagon, way too much information at one time. While I established a foothold among my peers here at West Chester University, I still need guidance, and my attempts to slowly minor in performance seem dreary. I continue to practice and have a place in the Symphonic Band.
What he plans on doing in the future:
I never was much of a pioneer, but I always wanted to join an organized group that happened to need a saxophone. I think the experience would give me a direction in my practicing, whether it would be small ensamble or jazz, it would give me a percievable goal.
