The trumpet was originally designed as a wood instrument from cane or
bamboo to distort a man's voice, and to sing into to ward off evil spirits. It
was later designed in metal.
The trumpet was a war and temple instrument, made from metal with a
conical bore, and a short flaring bell, all straight. They were used in Egypt,
Israel, and Rome.
Around the 14th century, the trumpet was folded into an "s" shape, and by
the 15th century it was shaped into the elongated hoop, that is the form of
the modern trumpet.
In the 1820s, valves were first added to trumpets making it fully chromatic
and capable of playing melodies.
About Trombone::
There are several types of trombones: the slide trombone, the tenor
trombone, the tenor-bass trombone, the bass trombone, and the
contrabass trombone, the alto trombone, the soprano trombone, and the
valve trombone.
The trombone first appeared as an advance on the slide trumpet about the
mid - 15th century, and was originally known as the "Sackbut". The
trombone did not become a part of the orchestra until the 18th century
because it was too loud.
Jazz trombonists have shown the trombone actually has a greater range of
timbres than classical musicians had assumed and has greater expressive
effects than symphonic composers employ.
The tenor trombone, the most commonly used trombone, has a range from
e, and the lowest pedal note is a g.
