I have loved music all my life. I always loved singing my favorite songs
on the radio and everyone told me I had a good ear for music. I started playing
Alto Sax in 5th grade and I loved it! I practiced hard and progressed quickly.
After two years of playing I got into jazz and switched to Tenor Sax. Through
High School jazz became my life. The more I played the more I realized how much
I love jazz. It's the only art form that I can use to express myself, and as a
pure improvisational art, it is perfect for me to express myself. Music has
become my life and I don't have any other real skills to speak of. Now I'm a
music major in College and I'm not looking back.
I'm a music major Freshman at Saddleback College focusing on Jazz Studies.
I have been getting into more kinds of music, like avant-garde, aleatoric, and
world music. I'm starting to learn new instruments like Guitar, Bass, Upright
Bass, Clarinet, Flute, and Piano. I'm trying to form a group out of my peers at
Saddleback and I hope to start a gigging career with them.
My influences include John Coltrane, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Sonny Rollins, Wayne Shorter,
Dexter Gordon, Joe Henderson, Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis,
McCoy Tyner, Charles Mingus, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard,
Bill Evans, Ron Carter, Bobby Hutcherson, Horace Silver, and the list goes on
and on..
I have studied with Val Jamora the director of music at Corona del Mar High School and Jerry Pinter the private instructor at Saddleback College.
It is my ambition to make music my total career and livlihood. For me
music is a lifestyle, not a hobby. I hope to become a professional musician, a
session player, maybe even a teacher. I've also had some experience in the
recording studio so I could learn to become an engineer or a producer. I will
never give up on music.
Teen Jazz offers one page hosting with space for a bio and a picture for Teen Jazz Musicians (or just young musicians, you do not necessarily have to be a "jazz musician"). If you are interested in being added to Teen Jazz, there are two ways that you can become a Teen Jazz Artist;
(A) You can write your own biography, including your name, how many years you have been playing, and where you are from and send it to Shannon Kennedy, or
(B) you can fill out the Teen Jazz Artists form to apply for eligibility.
Either way is easy and will only take you a few minutes. Don't miss out on this great opportunity for exposure!
Check out what the future of music looks like here with these talented young teen jazz artists.
Teen Jazz is also looking for young Jazz Artist features, so you could become a feature if you apply. In any of the boxes, state that you are interested in being featured, list your website, and Teen Jazz will see if you will be the next feature. You will be notified by email.
(A) You cannot submit one sentence answers to the Teen Jazz Artist Application form questions, they must be a short paragraph.
(B) You must respond to the confirmation email that you receive from Shannon Kennedy after you submit your profile or your profile will not be published on Teen Jazz.
(C) Pictures and Contact Information on your page are optional, but let us at Teen Jazz know if you would like to have both or either on your profile.
